Protocol SMTP

what is a cloud company

SMTP (Send and Receive Mail Transfer Protocol) is a standard protocol used to send and retrieve electronic mails. The protocol is simple to use and is supported by all major email clients. The protocol features line-by–line transmission and an ending-of-data sequence which consists a new-line followed by a stop. The only caveat is that a line in the message body can contain only a period. If this happens the client sends two periods in the message body to the server. The server replaces it by one. This is known as "dot-stuffing".

Message ID

In SMTP, a message identifier identifies the original message. Machine-readable identifiers must follow the msg id specification format. The identifier can be a phrase or a word that summarises the message. It also lets the receiver know about the contents. An identifier for a message can also contain a comment.

Message body

The Protocol SMTP Message Body is composed of many parts. A readable string of text containing a keyword, followed closely by a colon and a value is the SMTP header. Some header keywords are mandatory while others are optional. The SMTP header lines must contain a To-and-From line as well as a Subject line. In that it is part the actual mail message, the SMTP header line is different from SMTP commands.

Command RCPT

The RCPT command identifies a host mail relay. Before transferring the message, the relay host requests permission from the server. Typically, a 354 response code indicates the server has granted permission. Once this permission has been granted, the sender starts transferring the mail data line by line. The contents of a message are added to the recipient's mailbox by the recipient SMTP servers.

DATA command

The DATA command in the protocol Smtp signals the start of a message. A header and a body make up the message. If the message passes successfully, the server will return a 250 response number.

QUIT command

You can send a QUIT message to terminate a session that uses SMTP protocol. SMTP servers are able to detect the QUIT commands and send a 221 "goodbye” message to the receiver device. This message will close the TCP link between the sending and receiving devices.

RCPT

The RCPT protocol allows SMS messages to be sent over the Internet using a standard protocol. This protocol uses RFC822 to encode the content of an SMS message. It also requires a minimum of 256 bytes. Each SMS message is limited to 160 7-bit characters and 70 Unicode characters. But, you can send longer messages. First, divide the message into smaller segments. Next, encrypt the text message.

DATA

The DATA command initiates transmission of the mail message body. The message will then be sent line by line to its destination. Finally, it will terminate with an end of data sequence of a new-line followed by a complete stop. You can also include a single line in your message body, which is made up of only one period. This is called dot-stuffing. It occurs when two periods are sent by the client and a single period is returned by the server.

FAQ

What is responsive web design?

Responsive Web Design (RWD) is an approach to designing websites where content displays responsively on all devices - desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc. This allows users to simultaneously view a website from one device while still being able to access other features, such as navigation menus and buttons. RWD aims to ensure that every user who views a site is able to view it on any screen size.

Consider, for instance, that you're building a website for an eCommerce company and your products are sold primarily online. It is important to ensure that your website can be accessed on any device, including a smartphone.

Responsive websites will adjust their layout according to the device that is being used. The site will display exactly the same way on a laptop as if it were viewed on a desktop computer. However, if you're viewing the page on your phone, it will display differently.

This means that you can create one website that looks great across all devices.
